If they had any balls they would.
@OMG Cat: There are a few: Google is putting a ‘Censored” banner over it’s name.
Most notably: ” I Can Has Cheezburger?” is gone for today.
Are any other sites following the Wiki example?
Imagine if google did it. Even for 24 hours. I know there are many other search engines, but if they totally closed down, there’s millions of other sites that rely on google’s indexing.
It’s a round-about way of imposing the type of censorship that we frequently condone countries like China doing.
It will rock the global community that the Internet has become. Or at least be the first nail in the coffin.
Yes, indeed they should.
The bill should be named SDWWWWWWWGR (Shut Down Whoever We Want, When We Want, Without Good Reason).
Wrapping it up as an “anti-piracy” bill is disingenuous and exceedingly dishonest.
You’d never get the whole community to agree to it.
If Yamster has the cojones.
But seriously, that bill sucks. Sign the Google petition: https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/
